We started this month as soon as it began seeing the team at the very well layed out Tamworth indoor equestrian centre.
We started the QLD run with Sue, Brian, Lucy, Cruise and Uncle Toby ready to experience the spacey area of the indoor arena at the centre, first to go was Lucy in the 1.10m, unfortunately due to car troubles Greer was unable to make it there on time to ride Lucy in this class so Danielle took the ride and jumped a double clear round but unfortunately was just out of the placing’s, Greer thankfully arrived in time to ride Brian in the 1.20m she also jumped a double clear round and placed in the young riders on Brian on the Sunday.
The team was then off to Toowoomba state titles and world cup (a quick thankyou to Greer’s boyfriend Reece for driving the horses and truck up).
We started the weekend with the young riders speed event, sadly and luckily the juniors brought to every other riders attention that the grounds surface was just a little bit slippery under foot due to a monster truck event the weekend before otherwise Danielle has no doubt in her mind that she would have won this class, never the less congratulations to Lincoln for winning the first 2 young rider events, Danielle placed 4th in the second young rider event and 5th in the final on Twins Quantum and Greer placed 7th on Twins Lovesong also a very big congratulations to Gabby Kuna and Jimmy Choo as they are the 2010 Queensland young rider champions!
Also a very big well done to Robert Goodwin as he is the 2010 senior Queensland champion and Kristy Ansell as she is the 2010 junior Queensland champion!
The world cup weekend was very exciting with Jamie Kermond taking out first place on ASB Colthaga, congratulations to him and all of the other place getters.
The course was tricky with its distances seeing a few people come close to misses, I thought it did not suit Landsong at all with her big stride and Greer as the new rider her inexperience on Sue and at world cup level unfortunately saw them eliminated but mistakes are for learning so I’m sure they’ll be much more competitive next time round (at least that’s what I told Greer if she wants to keep the ride on Suey!).
August
This month has been a little more quiet for us with a couple of much needed jump clubs being cancelled and a very busy truck schedule leaving us stranded at home unable to get to lessons, however, next month will definitely compensate for that with state titles coming up at Gundagai, youth being held at Camden and Australian titles at Canberra (unless they’ve changed it).
This month Simon Kale's show was on at Foxground Showjumping Club which we delightfully attended, on the first day we took all of our young ones which include, Washington, George, Zulu and Lucy, they all went very well but were a bit spooked by the bunting as it was a little bit windy on the first day.
George was in the 70cm and the 90cm, he is seeming to get the idea of it all but as he is still young and green he just needs to get used to the atmosphere of everything.
Washington was having a few issues with the wind as he has always been a little bit spooky, the bunting defiantly didn’t help his warm up nevertheless he jumped a super round in the 70cm.
Zulu is chewing up the heights faster than Jason eats dinner, with his maturity and willingness to learn it makes it very easy for Danielle to navigate him around a 70cm and 90cm so hopefully he’ll be stepping it up soon enough and Lucy knows exactly what she’s doing, even if Greer doesn’t she has enough talent to pull it off for both of them :)
On the second day we brought the team of older horses which includes:
Cruise, Lucy, Brian, Toby and we brought Zulu back out for the 1.00m and 1.05m.
The day was much nicer as well not being so windy, although I’m sure the girls would have preferred it the other way around even so they just had to deal with it.
Zulu was a little bit naughty in the 1.00m so the 1.05m did him the world of good just getting around with a few rails.
Lucy and Brian were superstars and placed or won all of the classes they went into and received magnificent prizes.
Cruisey was a superstar and was the only horse to jump a double clear round in the Grand Prix seeing him win the class and poor old man Toby just tapped the planks in the first round but still ended up in the placings.
Well done to all of the competitors and place getters at Simons show.
And thankyou Simon for hosting such a wonderful show :)
